Celtic’s draw against Motherwell yesterday came off the back of an uncharacteristic performance from the team. Not at their fluent best, Celtic struggled to break down a Motherwell side that was dogged and determined and intent on using whatever tactic they could to take something away from Celtic Park.
And to be fair to them, their game plan worked. They took a precious point back to Fir Park leaving the Celtic fans, and the team, feeling frustrated.
That frustration was all too clear in Callum McGregor’s post-match interview on Celtic TV where the captain said that they will use yesterday’s disappointment as motivation to get a result in next week’s Glasgow Derby.

McGregor said, “We’ve taken a slap in the face today. Come next week hopefully, we’ll look at this in a positive way in terms of it’s really sharpening us up for the week that’s coming.
“But all we can do now is try and put it right this week in training and then obviously leading into the weekend.
“We’ve got five, six big games to go and we have to go for absolute maximum so that when we look back at the end of the season, then then this is a blip and we’ve learned from it.”

And to be honest, it’s better that performance from the team came yesterday and not next week in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
With the league almost wrapped up, focus now turns to Sunday where Celtic will look to avenge last season’s defeat at the same stage in the competition.
With the treble very much in sight, Ange will leave the players in no doubt that a repeat performance will not be tolerated which can only be a benefit our preparations for what is undoubtedly the biggest game of the season.
