Callum McGregor has delivered a key piece of advice to Celtic’s stars of the future.
McGregor is a youth academy graduate himself. He made the breakthrough to the Celtic first team in 2014 after a successful loan spell at Notts County.
Earlier this week, he was nominated onto the four-man shortlist for the PFA’s Player of the Year award. He’ll be joined by Hoops teammate James Forrest and Rangers men Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent.

The Scotland international was asked by the Celtic official YouTube page (02/05/2019) for any advice he’d give to players in the development squad.
McGregor replied saying: “I think you just need to keep working hard every day. Stay humble as well.
“When you get your choice you need to take it and also be able to listen and learn from the experienced guys and coaches.”

Celtic’s next generation
McGregor’s words will be music to the ears of the likes of Ewan Henderson and Karamoko Dembele who have impressed in development outings this year.
The stars of the future need look no further than Celtic’s two PFA nominees – McGregor and Forrest – for inspiration. The pair were in the youth stars’ boots not so long ago but have now excelled to become top level players.

Kieran Tierney’s domination of the YPOTY award will end this season but he is another perfect example of what can be achieved. The full-back’s hard work and desire have turned him from a wonderkid into a superstar.
Mikey Johnston is another youngster who has had opportunities in the first team recently. Celtic have shown a willingness to blood youth over the past five years. The message is clear: if you’re good enough, you’re old enough.
