Callum McGregor’s future was already sealed earlier this season with a new contract. Now, however, he’s reaffirmed his desire to stay at the club in the long-term.
That’s because the Scotland international has his eyes set on playing over 500 games for the club.
The Hoops midfielder has already signed up to stay at Parkhead until at least 2023. The deal itself takes McGregor into his 30s, and Celtic should be the club to start seeing the peak of his powers.

If there was ever any doubt regarding McGregor’s desire to stay at the club long-term, however, he’s come out and confirmed it. Speaking to Celtic’s official website, the midfielder touched on whether he could join the elite 500-club.
“I’ll certainly be here for long enough! As a player, you definitely want to play as many games as you can, and for this club it’s been amazing, and it has been such a big part of my life.
“I’ve been here since I was nine-years-old, and you know the culture of the club and everything it stands for.

“If I can also go on to make 500 appearances for the club like Broony, then that’s something I’d be immensely proud of.”
Is there anyone more committed than McGregor?
Looking around the Celtic squad, you have to say that there’s nobody who commits their future to Celtic more than McGregor. If he isn’t signing new contracts then he’s talking about his long-term goals at Parkhead.
For supporters, his commitment to the cause is invaluable. He’s turned into one of the club’s most versatile and creative players. When it comes to cult-heroes, McGregor is right up there.
His versatility has already been shown this season too. He played left-back in Celtic’s most difficult domestic match of the season at Ibrox. Despite the Hoops missing out on his creativity in the midfield, McGregor put in a fine display in an unrecognised area of the pitch for him.

A player with his quality, potential, and versatility is worth tens of millions. Celtic, however, evidently don’t have to worry about him ever demanding a move away.
The longer McGregor stays at the club, the more you feel he’s going to be a one-club man. The Hoops star is constantly beaming, and gives off the vibe that he seriously enjoys his future at Parkhead.
Any potential suitors will have to seriously break the bank if they wish to speak to McGregor. For now, however, the midfield star has once again committed his future to Celtic.
