Celtic’s Callum McGregor recently signed a new five-year contract with the club. That is a bonus for Celtic as it ends any speculation that he will be leaving the club any time soon.
McGregor has now had his say on the deal, and he has paid tribute to a man he has shared the midfield with for many years, Scott Brown.
“I also don’t think I can learn from anyone better than Scott Brown” he said, as reported by the Celtic website.
“I’m trying to learn all the time”

“You saw at the weekend at Hampden that his performance was absolutely outstanding. He dragged the team through the game and just when we were under a wee bit of pressure, he went and scored. So for me to be the understudy to him is incredible and I’m trying to learn all the time.”
Brown has seen and done it all in his time at Celtic. He was won a multitude of trophies, yet even though he is coming to the end of his career, the desire hasn’t left his game yet.
As McGregor pointed out, in the recent 5-2 win over Hibs Brown took the game by the scruff of the neck. His two goals helped the Hoops clinch the game, and reach the Betfred Cup Final.
If McGregor can emulate the career that Brown has had at Celtic, he will go down as one of the Hoops’ best players in the last 25 years.
Treble-winner feels that he can still improve his game

It is good to see that McGregor feels he is still learning from playing with Brown, even though he is a very experienced player himself.
That shows that the player still feels that he can improve his game. It will be interesting to see if McGregor takes over as captain from Brown when the Hoops skipper eventually retires. If he keeps learning from Brown, there is no better candidate to be given the role.
