Celtic’s transfer policy, or completed business this season to be more accurate, has taken a bit of a battering by the fans and the press.

With only one out of eight of last summer’s signings making any kind of impact this season, the fans were rightly baffled as to how the recruitment department could get so many signings wrong.

But it was a player who was bought during Ange Postecoglou’s first season that Celtic captain, Callum McGregor, credits as a ‘huge part’ of why Celtic have dominated Scottish football for the past three seasons.

Joe Hart a Celtic ‘giant’

It seems that Joe Hart is front and centre of the majority of the Celtic stories over the past few weeks. And rightly so.

After 20 years in the game, Hart has now retired but he did so at the top after helping Celtic to a league and cup double in Brendan Rodgers’ first season in his return to the club.

And Celtic captain, Callum McGregor, paid a huge compliment to the veteran ‘keeper.

McGregor said [The Herald], “You couldn’t write a better script, finishing with a Double, beating Rangers at Hampden with a last-minute goal and a clean sheet for him.

“It is a brilliant way to finish. He can go and enjoy his retirement.

“I am sure you will see him popping up somewhere.

“He deserves every plaudit and every bit of credit that he is going to get because he has been a giant since he walked through the door, someone who is hugely experienced, respected at the club and in football.

“He has been a huge part of why we have been successful over the last three years.”

Hart picked up seven winners medals throughout his three-year stay at Celtic and that included being a massive part of the record-breaking eighth treble-winning season.

Only the second-ever Celtic player to win every domestic competition in Scotland and England, Hart will be remembered not only as a Celtic icon, but a legend of the game and he will be sorely missed by all at the club.
