Callum McGregor has delivered his message to the fans as Celtic prepare for a massive game against Hearts.

The Hoops and the Jambos lock horns at midday on Sunday as first takes on second in the Scottish Premiership.

Hearts are five points ahead of Celtic going into the game, and that could be increased to eight with a statement victory.

The Hoops are not in the best form despite beating Sturm Graz on Thursday night, while key injuries have given Brendan Rodgers a huge headache.

Celtic will be without Alistair Johnston, Kelechi Iheanacho and Cameron Carter-Vickers – all first choice players with real quality.

Celtic ‘calm’ before the Hearts storm

But McGregor has told Sky Sports that the Celtic dressing room is calm and assured supporters that the team know how to win difficult games.

Speaking inside Barrowfield’s new indoor football arena, McGregor said: “The reality is that negativity comes when you’re not winning games of football. So the best way to affect that is to win games of football on a regular basis.

“We had a really good night last night. It was a good performance and we were much more like ourselves. Now we have to use that as the catalyst to move forward and take it into Sunday’s game.

“Obviously it will be a tough game but we go there with confidence that we can win the game. Then the whole thing starts to move really, really quickly with a big few weeks ahead.

“The players are okay, the players are fine. We know our job and we’ve been here a long, long time. We know how to win games.

“So everybody is calm and we just focus on performance and winning matches. Everything else will come along with that.”

Who will replace Johnston, Carter-Vickers & Iheanacho?

Brendan Rodgers is without his main right-back, centre-back and striker for the most important game of the season so far – terribly bad luck.

Johnston should be replaced by Colby Donovan, but don’t be surprised if Rodgers decides to pick the more experienced Anthony Ralston.

The manager is likely to call upon Dane Murray or Auston Trusty to partner Liam Scales, with Murray better suited on the right side.

And Johnny Kenny played well against Sturm Graz despite failing to score, so he should be the swap for Iheanacho.
