James Forrest will go down as a Celtic legend when the time comes to hang up his boots. Forrest is a one-man club and after spending 13 years at Celtic he is now to be honoured with a testimonial to mark his contribution to the club’s history.

In an interview with Callum McGregor, the Celtic captain was asked about the testimonial announcement as he paid tribute to Forrest. McGregor also revealed the important role that the winger plays behind the scenes for the club.

McGregor said [Celtic FC], “Well overdue to be honest. Obviously the COVID stuff sort of kicked in kind of around that time as well, which has probably postponed that a little bit.

“But for a guy to score that amount goals, to create that amount of goals and do it on a consistent basis. Again, with the personality he is, what a person to have around the building.

“Kind of setting an example for new players coming in. ‘This is how to be a successful Celtic player. This is how you conduct yourself’. He’s a total professional.

“And he kind of shows the way for the young lads and new lads coming in as well. So, you know, a hugely important part of the club’s success and it’s only right that we acknowledge that in the best way possible.”

James Forrest has been an outstanding servant for Celtic. One of the most decorated players in the club’s history, Forrest has amassed an incredible 11 League titles, 6 Scottish Cups and 7 League Cups. He was also the Player of The Year in season 2018/19.

Forrest also played a part in every season of our second nine in a row and the Quadruple Treble. He has also been capped 38 times for his country.

Although we don’t see him on the pitch as often as we would like, it is clear that he is still a highly influential figure within the Parkhead dressing room and someone that is playing a great role in the development of the youngsters at the club.
