At the moment there is a bit of uncertainty about who will start up-front for Celtic against Rangers in the Betfred Cup Final on Sunday.

In the last three games, winger Lewis Morgan has played in the lone striker role. It remains to be seen if Neil Lennon will hand the player will be the biggest start of his Hoops career.

That could depend on the fitness of Odsonne Edouard. Celtic’s main striker has been struggling with an injury. There is another striking option though, and that is Leigh Griffiths.

Griffiths has played in Celtic’s last four games after returning from a long-term injury, but he has not started any of those matches.

However, Callum McGregor has faith in Griffiths that he will do well for the Hoops if he starts, and he thinks that Griffiths will be desperate to feature at Hampden.

“Leigh will be definitely champing at the bit too” McGregor said, as reported by STV.

“Even last night was another step forward for Leigh, he looked a bit sharper again when he came on (against Hamilton) and helped us to get the winning goal. He’ll be desperate to play, as will everyone in the squad.”

Griffiths did play a part in helping Celtic defeat Hamilton, and as McGregor identifies he will be desperate to start for the Hoops.

However, it could be a bit of a gamble, as Griffiths has not started a game for the Hoops since August. Will have the fitness to cope with what is a big occasion for the Hoops?

That is a decision that Neil Lennon will be giving a lot of thought too. Griffiths has done well for the Hoops in his substitute appearances. It is a different matter playing from the start though, and playing in a cup final against your biggest rivals.

Griffiths will no doubt feature at some stage of the game, but it remains to be seen if he will start the game.
