Now that the headlines over Celtic’s rousing win at St Johnstone are starting to calm down, attention now focuses on Tuesday night and the big Champions League fixture against Borussia Dortmund.

Brendan Rodgers will be looking to build on the great start Celtic have had in the competition after their historic 5-1 over Slovan Bratislava.

However, Borussia Dortmund will provide a much sterner test for Brendan Rodgers and Callum McGregor has delivered his verdict on whether or not Celtic can ‘hurt’ last year’s runners-up.

Celtic ‘full of confidence’ ahead of Champions League clash

Speaking after bagging his fourth goal of the season, the Celtic captain seemed bullish as he spoke about his team’s chances of pulling off a big result in the Westfalenstadion.

McGregor told Premier Sports, “Yeah, absolutely. I think we’re in as good a shape as we’ve been. Big game, big match, obviously against a good opponent who got to the final last year.

“But we got to fancy ourselves. We’ve got to go there, we’re full of confidence, we’ve got pace in the team, we’ve got quality in the team.

“So let’s see if we can go and hurt them.”

Dortmund result is not impossible for Celtic

There is absolutely no doubt that pulling off a result in Germany will be difficult but it is not impossible for this Celtic team.

Celtic have had massive away results in the Champions League before against the likes of Barcelona in the Nou Camp and Spartak Moscow in the Lukoil Arena.

And looking at the personnel Brendan Rodgers has at his disposal and how the team are playing right now, Celtic should be confident heading into this match.

Whether Celtic can pull off a win is one thing but even looking to take a point back to Glasgow will bolster their chances of making progress in the tournament for the first time since 2013.

The Celtic fans can but dream, right?
