Celtic star Cameron Carter-Vickers, on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, has been named the Scottish Premiership player of the week by Sky Sports and data specialists WhoScored.
Carter-Vickers only made his debut at the weekend, but his deflected goal and overall defensive performance has already marked him out as one of the country’s top performers in the broadcaster’s eyes.
WhoScored says his three out of four aerial duel wins, four clearances, three tackles and one interception all contribute to his overall game rating of 8.65, which is higher than anyone else in the country and just edges out double goal hero Albian Ajeti.

Winger Liel Abada was also named in the team of the week, along with Leigh Griffiths who is on loan from Celtic at Dundee.
It has to be said that Carter-Vickers wasn’t particularly tested up against a poor Ross County side. We’ll likely find out much more about his defending if he starts in Seville this Thursday.
Nonetheless, Sky Sports’ and WhoScored’s analysis hits home that the American international looks the part and had about as good a debut as he was ever going to have. He’s made a cracking start to his Celtic career.
That’s not much of a surprise, to be honest. He has pretty good experience at English Championship level and has been training with Tottenham Hotspur all summer. He was always a player that looked ready to go.
The 23-year-old now looks to be a first-choice pick in the position, so it’ll be fascinating to see how he grows and progresses from here.
