The signing of Kasper Schmeichel put an end to Celtic’s search for the replacement of Joe Hart in this summer’s transfer window.
The big Dane was tied up to a one-year deal with an option to extend it by further twelve months and already he looks like a shrewd piece of business by Brendan Rodgers.
Schmeichel looked solid on the US Tour in the wins against DC United, Manchester City and Chelsea and the Celtic fans believe they already have a new hero between the sticks.
And even though he has played just three domestic games for Celtic, Cameron Carter-Vickers has shared how the Danish international already looks like an ‘unbelievable’ player.
Schmeichel is already looking ‘really good’ for Celtic
The US defender admits that he is enjoying lining up alongside his Celtic teammate and Carter-Vickers has been really impressed with Schmeichel so far.
Carter-Vickers told the Daily Record, “Kasper’s been really good. I think from the minute he came in, you saw his quality.
“I think it’s clear to see that on the ball, he can play with the ball at his feet.
“He probably hasn’t had to make many big saves yet in the league or the Cup game, but I think you saw in pre-season that some of the saves he made were unbelievable, so I’m definitely enjoying playing with him and looking forward to keeping playing with him.”
The 37-year-old keeper looks really calm and assured and a big presence in the centre of the Celtic goal.
Although he did concede against Hibs in the League Cup win, Schmeichel is yet to be properly tested.
That test, however, is coming up at the end of August when Rangers come to visit Celtic Park and if Schmeichel can keep a clean sheet and help Brendan Rodgers collect all three points, he will be go even further up in the Celtic supporters’ estimations this season.
