With just ten games remaining in the Scottish Premiership, Celtic fans can look forward to a tense and exciting end to the league season.
The Bhoys have dominated Scottish football for the last decade-plus, so it’s an odd feeling to see the team in second place at this stage of the campaign.
However, with two derbies remaining, everything is still in Celtic’s hands when it comes to lifting silverware. A run of ten strong performances could and should deliver another title.
If you listen to some rival supporters, you’d think that this is the first time the Bhoys have ever been seriously challenged and that Celtic are showing weakness simply because there’s a threat this term.
But that’s a myth and it’s something defender Cameron Carter-Vickers acknowledged in comments this week when asked if this is his team’s toughest test since he arrived at the club.
Carter-Vickers on Celtic Rangers title race
He said [The Daily Record]: “I don’t know if I’d say it’s our toughest test. Our first year I was here was a tough title challenge. We were behind early part of the year and I think when we went to their stadium before the split we were only a few points ahead.
“So that was a tough title challenge. Obviously, this one’s going to be difficult as well. But I think we’ve got the players for it and we’re up for the challenge. I like to think we’re a calm group.
“We don’t really get fazed by a lot of the noise and stuff like that. We know what we have to do and how we have to go about it. That’s what we’re trying to do.”

Most of these players have been seriously challenged before and shown their mettle. Carter-Vickers is quite right to point that out.
In Ange Postecoglou’s first season, Celtic were six points behind going into the winter break and showed remarkable fortitude to produce a big points swing.
This season has certainly had some misfiring performances but now that we’re in the business end of the campaign, Celtic shouldn’t be written off. There’s a lot of football left to be played.
