Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers has stated that leading Ange Postecoglou’s side out at Parkhead was a ‘special moment’ as he reacted to last night’s defeat to RB Leipzig.

Going into the game, it was a must-win fixture for the Hoops, who needed to deliver all three points in order to keep their UEFA Champions League hopes alive.

Ange Postecoglou’s side put up a good showing, but the German side’s quality came through in the end, as Timo Werner and Emil Forsberg produced two late strikes at Parkhead.

In the immediate aftermath of the result, you could see the disappointment of the entire Hoops squad as they now look to regroup ahead of their return to Scottish Premiership action on Saturday.

Taking to Instagram this afternoon, Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers reflected on his disappointment whilst also expressing how much of a ‘special moment’ it was for him to lead the side out at Paradise as captain.

He said on social media: “Disappointing result last night, but a special moment to lead the team out in front of our fans! 🍀 Hard work continues!”

Alongside Carter-Vickers, Celtic shot-stopper Joe Hart is also seen as one of the main leaders amongst the squad and in the Parkhead changing room.

The Hoops number one made some key stops at points in the game, but again, couldn’t do enough to keep the German side out in the second half.

Posting on Instagram, Hart said: “Fine margins at the top level. Refocus, learn and go again 💪🍀💚support was special and much-appreciated #COYBIG

Leaders in Celtic changing room will regroup squad ahead of huge period of fixtures.

As mentioned, although there will be plenty of disappointment and frustration within Ange Postecoglou’s side, it is crucial that the likes of Joe Hart and CCV regroup the squad ahead of a crucial period of fixtures.

The Bhoys Champions League hopes may have come to an end. However, there is still plenty to play for on the domestic front.

Postecoglou and his players face back-to-back tests against the Edinburgh clubs in the league, with a Premier Sports cup quarter-final tie against Motherwell tucked in between.

So, it is imperative we use our learning experiences from matches against RB Leipzig to our advantage and bounce back from defeat to return to winning ways at an important period in the season.
