Celtic are on course to win a record-breaking eighth domestic treble this season. Now that the title celebrations are over, Carl Starfelt has said that the team’s attention now returns to the Scottish Cup Final against Inverness Caley Thistle this Saturday.

The Swedish defender was looking ahead to the weekend’s game and said that the team are fully focused on bringing home another treble.

Starfelt said [Daily Record], “To win the Treble would be very special. It is not easy.

“You can see that has not been done very often in the past that it is not an easy thing to do. It’s three trophies we need to compete in domestically so to win all of them would be a huge thing.

“I think everyone is really going to give everything to win this Cup Final and bring this Treble home.

“We have won two titles and have the chance to win the treble. It has been an amazing season but we just need to make sure we finish it off in a good way.”

Starfelt’s comments are spot on. Whilst Celtic have enjoyed domestic dominance and made winning a Treble look easy by completing a Quadruple Treble, a clean sweep of all domestic trophies is something that should not be taken for granted.

Only four Celtic managers have managed to do this in the club’s history. Should Ange Postecoglou manage to get past Inverness on Saturday evening, he will join Jock Stein, Martin O’Neill, Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon in the history books as a treble-winning Celtic manager.

Celtic are overwhelming favourites but they will be wary of the Highland club. Caley Thistle has had success against us in the Scottish Cup in the past.

Regardless of their Championship league status, Celtic will need to go out there and do a professional job to make sure that there is no repeat of the infamous headlines we witnessed back in February 2000.
