Celtic currently sit in a respectable 18th in Europe when it comes to league goals scored across the continent’s top 20 divisions.

The Hoops had started the season on fire with six consecutive Premiership wins. However, this run has recently been halted by both Hibernian and Livingston to add some deflation to the campaign.

But the rate this side have been scoring goals this season has been incredible. Already, Celtic have 54 goals in all competitions. Ryan Christie, Odsonne Edouard, and James Forrest have all been netting regularly. It’s clear to see there’s a confidence brimming through the Hoops going forward.

However, in terms of league goals scored, Celtic have 22 in eight games alone. That leaves them sitting 18th in the European table, ahead of teams such as Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona respectively (Daily Record).

It’s interesting to note that the vast majority of teams below Celtic in the table have still played more matches than them. Only Bayern Munich have played less, as they sit on seven matches and 20 goals.

Unfortunately, Rangers sit above us in sixth place with 26 goals in eight games. However, in fairness to Celtic, we’ve played two away games more than our rivals, with many of their matches coming at Ibrox to start the season.

Other teams ahead of us in the table include the likes of Ajax, Wolfsburg, and Manchester City respectively. Red Bull Salzburg, meanwhile, top the table with a staggering 46 goals in 10 games.

The table shows just how impressive Neil Lennon’s Celtic have been so far this season. With five games coming away from home, Celtic are scoring nearly everywhere. Their failure to score against Livingston wasn’t just the first time they’ve failed to do so in the league. It was actually the first time they’ve failed to score all season.

Celtic have been flying, despite sitting second in the Premiership. Their recent speedbumps will hopefully be nothing more than minor blips en-route to nine-in-a-row.

As for now, however, Celtic can be delighted with the goals they’re racking up. Already this season, it looks like we’re going to take some beating over the course of 38 games.
