Celtic could be set to battle it out with Leeds to sign Brentford midfielder Romaine Sawyers, according to a report. The Daily Record reports that the Championship side are keen on the player, but are yet to make a bid.
The report goes on to reveal that ‘several’ English sides are interested in the player, as well as the Hoops.
Hoops reportedly had bid turned down

Sawyers is valued at £2.5 million by Brentford, and the Hoops have already had one bid of around £1.5 million for the player reportedly turned down.
It will be intriguing to see if the interest in the player from a team like Leeds, who will be aiming for promotion to the Premier League next season, will speed up Celtic’s need to get the deal done.

Should Leeds and Celtic meet the player’s asking price, then Sawyers would have an interesting decision to make.
No surprise if Hoops bid sooner rather than later
Neil Lennon will be keen to make sure that the player ends up at Celtic. Therefore, it would not be a surprise to see the Hoops make another bid for the player relatively soon.

It has been an up and down transfer window for Celtic so far. The positivity of landing the likes of Christopher Jullien and Boli-Bolingoli Mbombo has been tempered with the failure to sign a right-back.
Signing Sawyers would be a positive move. Celtic will be looking to get a deal sooner rather than later.
