Taking a slightly different road this morning from our usual coverage, Celtic have announced some key changes to internal broadcast network Celtic TV.
Back in July, the club commissioned a fan survey to boost wider engagement among the support. The survey touched on several topic areas related to how the Bhoys can innovate on and off the pitch.
The idea of a redesigned Celtic TV set-up was an idea floated. Several options were available to answer regarding improved matchday coverage, exclusive content and better access to historical matches.
Exploration is key to developing concepts that fans will buy into. Some have long been frustrated that the current platform could use some work and is limited to strict paywalls.
Now, Celtic have announced changes to the functionality of their coverage, which has been ongoing in the background for a while.
Celtic make changes to Celtic TV set-up
On the official Celtic website, changes to the broadcast network have been announced, with some new features available or coming soon.
Firstly, all documentaries, ‘feature-length content’ and other coverage encompassing one or the other has been centralised to the platform. There will be no more DVD’s, everything you need will now appear online.

A ‘streamlined’ subscription service with a brand new payment structure has also been put in place, joined by a new layout on the site when accessing what you want to view.
More free-to-air videos are also set to hit the platform. Meanwhile, an Available to Rent option will allow supporters to purchase individual programmes for £4.99, coming soon.
Newly compiled playlists have also been installed, comprising a list of on-demand content split into six different categories – Features, Interviews, Highlights, Full Match, First Half and Second Half.
Celtic could look to modernise in other areas
The fan survey didn’t just mention changes to Celtic TV, it also demanded answers on a detailed list of areas where the club have engaged over future modernisation.
In short, the main ones that stood out were a potential membership scheme, further safe standing proposals, digital tickets, the return of an official Celtic app, and catering upgrades.
With football entering a new age, clubs are keen to squeeze every area to provide better service to supporters who sustain their ability to grow on and off the pitch.
Celtic have shown they are open-minded concerning alterations to different facets of the club, so keep your eyes peeled for developments down the line.
