Celtic have announced there will be a new face of their matchday coverage on the Pass To Paradise service for season ticket holders.

Experienced presenter Connie McLaughlin will replace Gerry McCulloch as the host of the broadcast, starting tomorrow at home to Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership.

A Celtic announcement said: “We’re welcoming a new face to the on-screen line up for Celtic TV’s LIVE matchday programme as Connie McLaughlin joins the team as a Presenter.

“Connie has a wealth of broadcasting experience on TV and Radio and can regularly be seen on BT Sport’s football coverage and as a Sport Presenter on the BBC news channel. Connie is also a contributor to the live football output of BBC 5 Live.”

McCulloch will be in place as the commentator of tomorrow’s fixture, alongside Willie McStay.

There has been growing discontent with the broadcast style of Celtic TV in recent weeks. As you’d expect, the channel presents everything at the club in the best possible light and there’s little room for dissent or impartiality.

In an age of serious on the pitch problems, it can come across as patronising to worried fans.

The introduction of Peter Martin as the voice of commentary wasn’t particularly well-received either.

McCulloch welcomed the changes on Twitter earlier today, acknowledging a change of presenter might go down well with supporters!

You have to say fair play to the club here for recognising a weakness in their broadcasts and moving to employ outside help.

As noted, McLaughlin has been used on a number of mainstream outlets and should at least bring a bit of freshness to what has been a disappointing service throughout the season.

I look forward to seeing if this move helps change the tone and quality of the matchday coverage.

In other news, there are still youngsters training with the first-team at Lennoxtown.
