Celtic have announced that this year’s AGM will take place less than 48 hours after the conclusion of their UEFA Champions League group stage campaign in Madrid.

The club gave details of the meeting to the London Stock Exchange yesterday, also publishing details on the official website, with the date and time set for 11:30am on Friday November 4th.

The occasion will gave shareholders the opportunity to ask questions to some significant figures at the club, with manager Ange Postecoglou also likely to attend, given past meetings.

Last year’s AGM was notable for many reasons, with significant supporter unrest and vocal criticism aimed at Ian Bankier – who is due to step down as chairman at the end of this year – after a disastrous 2020-21 season beset with issues on and off the field.

It’s as of yet unclear who Bankier’s replacement will be, despite rumours earlier in the year that Peter Lawwell was in the frame to return to the club to replace the outgoing chairman.

The spectre of Bernard Higgins’ then-touted appointment was another sticking point for supporters at the time of last year’s meeting, with little clarity offered on the matter on the day amongst a myriad of other issues, including the very public and eventually unsuccessful pursuit of Eddie Howe, and Dom McKay’s short-lived spell as CEO.

This year should be a significantly more tepid affair than last, with Celtic in a more stable position, in no small part thanks to Ange Postecoglou’s rebuild, and the two trophies secured in the Australian’s first season.

Despite a year of general positivity surrounding the club, the issue of fan ownership will continue to be much-discussed as the AGM draws closer, with The Celtic Trust continuing to push for supporters to pledge their shares to the group.

You can be sure that 67 Hail Hail will keep you up to date on all the major talking points when the day comes, but for now, it’s one for the diary, with a lot of football to come before then.
