Celtic have been named as one of the main contenders to sign Shakhtar Donetsk winger, Tete. A report from Ukrainian outlet Sport Novyny has said that the 23-year-old intends to leave the club due to fears for his safety due to the ongoing conflict in the region.

Tete joined Donetsk in 2019 as a product of Brazilain club, Gremio’s youth academy. During his overall time at Shakthar, he has made 108 appearances, scoring 31 goals and creating 15 assists.

He is yet to be capped at full international level for the Brazilians but has represented his country at u23 level twice.

He has enjoyed two spells out on loan over recent seasons. His first was at French Ligue 1 side, Lyon where he spent just over a year. He made 30 appearances, scoring eight goals and creating ten.

He then spent a brief spell at Leicester City last season after joining The Foxes in January to team up with current Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers.

Tete was a consistent starter for Rodgers up until he was let go by the Premier League club. The Brazilian then found himself in and out of the team and eventually returned to Ukraine in the summer. But now, he has announced that he wants to leave the club.

His contract ends at the end of December 2023 so there could be scope to create a cut-price deal to bring him to Glasgow this summer. Tete is a two-time Ukrainian league champion and has a Ukrainian Cup and Super Cup to his name.

Celtic could be looking to add extra quality to the wing positions after the departure of Jota last week but as 67 Hail Hail detailed today, that may not be necessary due to the acquisition of Marco Tilio.

However, if the option is there to add him to the squad, I am sure Brendan Rodgers will look to do that after working with him briefly at Leicester City.
