Celtic appear to be in pole position to sign Christopher Jullien from Toulouse.
The £10 million rated centre-back is the only defensive option linked currently in this window, as reported by the Daily Record.
Talks about bringing Filip Benkovic back on loan are dying down despite early chat. Perhaps the money set for the Frenchman is best going towards bringing the Croatian back permanently.
Celtic way forward for Christopher Jullien
If reports are believed, Jullien is mapping out his way to the English Premier League.

This may upset a lot of Celtic fans, but he isn’t the first or last to do this.
Other top stars down south have given good service to Celtic before moving on for big bucks. Even a recent Champions League winner had to do that.
The 26-year-old is stagnating in France with Toulouse and none of the big clubs there are taking a gamble.
Celtic can put a blue print in front of Jullien to show that his career can improve. He has been described as a top defender prone to mistakes at times…he’s the usual Celtic centre-half then!
The pressure will mount right away for Jullien as Champions League qualification is a must.

However, why are Celtic relying on an unknown quantity when they can ask Benkovic the question?
Filip Benkovic is the man for Celtic
The Croatian signed the multi-million pound deal with Leicester City last season.
He never got a look in with Claude Puel early on and went to Glasgow for the season.
Now under Brendan Rodgers, he may have a better opportunity to get into the team.

Nevertheless, Celtic should be enquiring to see if there’s any availability to bring Benkovic back.
He pulled the club through an early tough season and was the driving force to Europa League last 32 qualification. Benkovic is a fantastic defender who can play at the highest level.
He is the one who will drag Celtic back into the Champions League next season – it’s a no brainer.
Use the money to sign him instead, Neil and Peter.
