It seems that Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou learned what a GIF is today, after the clip of him reacting to a wayward Cameron Carter-Vickers pass quickly went viral on social media.
Postecoglou could be seen amusingly making a face to the defender in the closing stages of the win over St Mirren. The club even clipped it out themselves and posted it across their channels, much to the delight of supporters.
The Bhoys boss was asked in his media conference today whether that’s a sign of the strong unity and relationship he has with his players at the moment.
Ange Postecoglou learns an internet term
The Celtic manager said [Celtic YouTube]: “Is that the GIF? Yeah, I just got an education on what a GIF is. I’m a human being, I like to think I’ve got a sense of humour. My mates tell me I’m pretty funny.
“Don’t be mistaken, I’m not in the dressing room pulling pranks and giggling at others’ misfortune. We’re human beings and I think no one was more surprised than me, other than Cameron himself, at the pass he made in that moment.”
It was undoubtedly a nice slice of humour at a time of the match Celtic already had things won. The fans certainly enjoyed it anyway. I’ve seen that loop of Ange’s reaction more times than I could possibly count over the last couple of days.
Postecoglou is a serious character and, in public, that’s how he often portrays himself too. He doesn’t suffer fools gladly. But it was nice to see another side of him and he took the question asked on it today in good humour too.
Carter-Vickers will just be happy that his manager found it funny rather than giving him some of the shouts we have seen from time to time on the touchline – especially in the early days of his reign.
In other news, Ange Postecoglou comments suggest changes to Celtic starting XI on the way.
