Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou's hilarious response to rivals dropping out of Sydney derby
Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is still excited about travelling to Australia to be part of the Sydney Super Cup, speaking to Sky Sports this afternoon.
Rangers have dropped out of the tournament, sparking conflict with the tournament organisers. However, Celtic are still very much part of the occasion and Postecoglou thinks it will undoubtedly be a big deal.
In fact, he reckons his friends and family will pick up the slack on any lost ticket sales!
Asked by Sky Sports about the situation today, Postecoglou said: “That’s for others to decide. All I know is how much people in Australia love football, love this football club and love having big games and big clubs visit them. It does make an impact. Not just in Australia but on that side of the world because you’re in that time zone.
“For selfish reasons, I’m still rapt we’re going. Whatever ticket sales we lose out on, I’m sure my friends and family will pick up, mate, so we’ll be alright.”
You just have to love Ange’s sense of humour and no doubt this will prompt a bit of annoyance from that lot across the city.
Postecoglou has always known this four-team tournament is all about Celtic’s return to Australia with him at the helm.
It’s a point of great pride for him and he isn’t going to shy away from that just because Rangers aren’t involved.
This is now shaping up to be a brilliant event and one we’re immensely looking forward to during a break in the season as World Cup fever begins.
Bring it on!
