Ange Postecoglou has been talking up the ability of Karamoko Dembele and thinks the Celtic youngster can fit well into his team and tactics.

Dembele was one of the most impressive performers during yesterday’s friendly win over Charlton Athletic in Wales.

He got himself on the scoresheet to put the Bhoys 1-0 up, before involving himself in the build-up to the second goal.

Beyond that, he just looked sharp and eager to combine with his teammates.

Postecoglou is encouraged and sees no reason to keep him hidden.

Speaking to The Glasgow Times, the Celtic boss said: “He is obviously a hugely talented boy. He has been here for a while and I guess he gets an opportunity now.

“I think the way we play will suit him. He was positive today, not just with the ball, he also worked hard without the ball. Yeah, I thought he did well.

“I never worry too much about age, at either end of the spectrum. It is more about can they do what we want them to do.

“He has been in and around the first team squad for a little while now. I think he wants to break through and be a first team player so I see no reason why anybody needs to protect him from that.”

The year of Karamoko Dembele at Celtic?

Dembele has long been a hyped talent at Celtic. In fact, from the age of 13 he’s been hitting the headlines.

Now though, it seems we’re finally about to find out what he can offer the senior side on a consistent basis. As Ange says, there really is no reason to hold him back any further.

Personally I reckon he can be a huge bonus to our attacking play this season. He has the confidence and ball ability to make things happen on the flanks, that is clear already.

With a progressive manager like Postecoglou in the dugout, he’ll get the backing to express himself. As long as he fits into the other aspects of the manager’s game, such as work rate and pressing, he should get plenty of chances.

Dembele has just a year left on his Celtic contract, so this is a big year for his relationship with the club. Let’s hope it all ends happily.
