Every Celtic fan believes that the Glasgow Derby is the biggest and fiercest rivalry in world football.

No doubt, the Rangers fans feel the same because when it comes to sheer passion, atmosphere and, dare I say it, hatred, there is nothing quite like when both Glasgow clubs meet.

Over the course of the last few seasons, Celtic have been dominant in this fixture. As has Brendan Rodgers.

The Celtic manager has only tasted defeat once in 17 games against the Ibrox club and he will be hoping to take that tally to 18 on Saturday.

When asked about the fixture and how it compares to other derbies he’s been involved in, Rodgers was in no doubt as to which comes out on top.

‘Iconic’ Celtic vs Rangers is ‘incredible’

Rodgers was involved in many big derbies during his time in the English Premier League but the Celtic boss was unequivocal on the Glasgow Derby being the best out there.

Rodgers said [talkSPORT], “It’s such an iconic game and I’ve been lucky enough to have been involved in Liverpool vs Man United Games and Liverpool vs Everton games which are real tense derbies.

“But this here with everything that is involved with Celtic vs Rangers, the games go so fast that, they are so tense.

“And the energy in the stadium is incredible and you have to have your wits about you as a player to be able to cope.”

The Glasgow Derby has the ability to make great players look ordinary such is the ferocity of the fixtures. Just as many players have crumbled in this fixture than have become heroes.

And this Saturday’s fixture is massive. Whoever wins the final will have (to a certain degree) the bragging rites for the rest of the summer.

And what better way to sign off Joe Hart’s career than with a winners medal adorned across his chest.
