The January transfer window is always a difficult one to get quality in the door but Celtic have proven that it can be done before.
During Ange Postecoglou’s first season at Celtic, Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi were all brought to the club in a trio of transfers that turned the Hoops’ season around. Matt O’Riley also joined the club in that window.
The year after that, Postecoglou brought Alistair Johnston to Celtic to replace the outgoing Josip Juranovic and what a success he has been.
So whilst many managers rue the January window, Celtic have proven that good business can be done. So when Brendan Rodgers delivered his latest update on possible activity in the January window, it should leave fans feeling excited for what is to come this month.
Brendan Rodgers ‘100% confident’ Celtic will do transfer business
Rodgers told BBC Scotland, “Just strengthen in general.
“We know what it is we want to do, and I’m 100% confident that the club will do everything to support that.
“It’s important to have that freshness I think going into the second part of the season. So, yeah we have deals that we want to do between now and the end of January.
“Hopefully we can do that.”
Brendan Rodgers directly addresses Keiran Tierney links to Celtic
Kieran Tierney has been linked with a return to Celtic for what seems like an age now. The Arsenal defender has entered into the last six months of his contract and is free to speak to clubs about a summer move.

When asked about the speculation and if he can give an update, Rodgers firmly said: “No.”
When pressed if has an interest in Tierney, the Celtic boss rebuffed the question and said, “Well, he is an Arsenal player, so clearly I won’t speak about it.”
One wonders if it was this line of questioning that irked Rodgers into having a go at the Celtic fans for their over-excitement over Tierney making a possible return to the club.
With plenty of cash to burn and Rodgers driving the recruitment at Celtic, the fans will be keen to see what gems the Hoops gaffer can unearth.
Rodgers brought Nicolas Kuhn to the club last summer and also signed Paulo Bernardo and Adam Idah. If the Parkhead boss can find players to a similar level to that trio then the fans could be in for a treat this January.
