Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has shared that he has sent a message welcoming Neil Warnock to Scotland after he took the Aberdeen job.
Before Celtic’s draw at Aberdeen at the weekend, the Dons sacked Barry Robson and proceeded to look for an option until the end of the season.
Not many managers in the UK have the experience of Neil Warnock, with the 75-year-old now taking his 20th managerial job after accepting the Aberdeen gig.
In his presser leading up to his first game in charge against Rangers, which ended in a narrow defeat, he did speak about Celtic and the perception of Scottish football.
That brilliantly led to Brendan Rodgers saying Neil Warnock is a good addition to Scottish football ‘for you guys (the media)’, which led to laughter across the press room, as he told his pre-match press conference.
The Irishman would have come across the former QPR and Leeds United manager on many occasions during his time in English football.
He added that he did send Neil Warnock a private message and how he will enjoy life in Scotland because it’s ‘proper football’.
Neil Warnock in the Scottish Premiership
On if Warnock is a good addition to Scottish football: “He will be for you guys,” responded Rodgers to the laughter of the press room.
“He is good value. Neil. I have come across him a few times. Always been in contact with him. I won’t be going until that age, but he has wanted to be up here for a long time.
“Now that he is up, he will see what the pitches are like, what the media is like and he will see what the refereeing is like.
“But he will enjoy it. He will have a great time. I sent him a message and wished him good luck. What he will have is good people up here and he will enjoy it. It’s real football.”

Neil Warnock brings the entertainment
It can’t be argued that he will bring that X-Factor from the touchline and there will now be a bigger light on Scottish football because of Warnock’s arrival.
Usually, it’s Celtic and Rangers taking the limelight, but on occasions, they might have to step aside for Aberdeen’s new man.
If the Dons make the top six, then a clash against Celtic awaits Warnock, which will make interesting viewing.
But he did point out that he wants a cup run, so perhaps Rodgers can cross paths with him then.
