Celtic boss confident defeat can spur team into winning run like it did last season

Neil Lennon has backed his Celtic team to bounce back from the recent defeats to Milan and Rangers, and he has gone back to last season to show that the Hoops are capable of doing just that, reports the official Celtic Twitter account.

Lennon has taken solace from how the team responded to it’s first league defeat of last season, the 2-0 loss to Livingston in October. Following that defeat Celtic won the next 11 league games in a row. Lennon, staying positive after the recent defeats, sees ‘no reason’ why Celtic can’t go on a similar winning run this season.

“No reason why we can’t”

We made a good start to the league campaign, and we’ve lost a game. We lost against Livingston last year and our response was great. So we’re looking to get on a good winning run again and there’s no reason why we can’t” the Celtic boss said, as quoted by the Celtic Twitter account.

Celtic proved twice last season that the players could recover from a league defeat. No only was there the 11 match winning run after Livingston. After the loss to Rangers Celtic won nine and drew one of the next 10 league games.

Nucleus of team which went on runs is still together

The nucleus of that side that went on those runs is still together. Therefore, you can understand why the Celtic boss isn’t panicking over the losses to Rangers and Milan.

However, so poor were the performances from Celtic in those games, that there could be a doubt that the Hoops can go on another winning run, beginning against Aberdeen on Sunday.

That being said, before the losses to Rangers and Milan, Celtic were on an eight game winning streak in all competitions. That shows that when they get the bit between their teeth, this Celtic side knows how to win games.

Only time will tell when it comes to how Celtic respond to the recent setbacks. However, a win against Aberdeen would be a more than welcome start.

In other news, Tom Rogic must be in Celtic’s starting line-up to face Aberdeen.
