Ange Postecoglou believes that Aaron Mooy’s involvement at the World Cup with Australia will help aid Celtic going into the second half of the season.

The 32-year-old midfielder has been at the club for just a matter of months after joining as a free agent in the summer.

Mooy took some time to build up his fitness following a slow start to life at Parkhead. But he is now starting to play his part and has regularly been involved in recent domestic and European action.

His recent involvement for the Hoops has also led to the former English Premier League midfielder earning a call-up to the Australian national team squad, headed for the Qatar World Cup.

The Socceroos will take on France, Denmark and Tunisia, with Aaron Mooy expected to take his place in the midfield, thanks to his recent international displays.

The Celtic man will be going up against some world-class talents at the prestigious tournament, with some of the best midfielders in the world on show in Group D.

This will be an incredible occasion for the ex-Huddersfield Town man, who Celtic supporters will likely be watching closely as one of the club’s four representatives.

And according to Ange Postecoglou, Mooy’s experience at the World Cup won’t only be impacting himself and his national team but also Celtic.

The Hoops boss expects that Aaron Mooy’s performances could be boosted going into the second half of the campaign, thanks to his involvement at this year’s tournament.

He said [Daily Record]: “I think it was important for him. He’s grown into the season.

“Certainly, in terms of fitness, he’s close to where he wants to be, his performances have improved, and he’s made of an impact. That’s the way you want to go to a World Cup.

“I’m sure he’ll enjoy it and will really test himself. More importantly, for us, I’m sure he’ll come back looking forward to making a bigger impact in the second half of the season.”

Celtic stars likely to come back raring to go after World Cup involvement.

Of course, with this statement, Ange Postecoglou won’t only be referring to Aaron Mooy but also his Celtic teammates, who are headed for Qatar in a few weeks’ time.

Josip Juranovic and Daizen Maeda are confirmed to be joining the Aussie midfielder, whilst Cameron Carter-Vickers is set to be part of the US squad.

So all four players will be buzzing to take part and go up against some of the best players from across the world.

It is a great point that Ange makes, and the members of his squad that are participating at the World Cup this winter are going to come back rejuvenated from that experience.

So, it is an exciting time to watch several members of our first team take part at such a high level, and fingers crossed we can see the benefits of that too.
