It is fair to say that Celtic boss Neil Lennon isn’t a fan of VAR. He made his feelings clear about the technological development in an interview on Celtic’s YouTube channel.
“I don’t get it” he began, before his expanding on his view.
“Killing the game”

“It’s killing the game at the minute. Some of the decisions I’ve seen over the last couple of weekends in the Premier League are baffling to say the least. It’s certainly detrimental to some of the results.”
Interestingly, Celtic have yet to play in a game where VAR has been used. That could change early next year. Should the Hoops progress into the last 32 of the Europa league, VAR will be introduced to the competition.
Hoops may soon get to experience VAR

That will then give Lennon the chance to witness how VAR works for himself. Perhaps he will change his mind should the Hoops benefit from a VAR decision.
However, should a decision go against Celtic, he will likely oppose VAR more than ever before. It seems unlikely that the system will be introduced in Scotland any time soon, down to costs. Maybe for matches at Hampden in domestic cup competitions it could be introduced.
For the moment though, Lennon can only watch from afar as incidents in games are magnified by VAR. Perhaps it is for the best that it has not yet been introduced in Scotland. It would not be long before a controversial VAR decision brought the process plenty of criticism.
