Celtic boss Neil Lennon singled out Christopher Jullien for praise after the Frenchman’s header won Celtic all three points in a vital 2-1 Europa League triumph over Lazio.

With the time ticking away towards the end of the game, Jullien headed home Ryan Christie’s corner to speak scenes of great joy at Celtic Park.

After the game, Lennon had high praise not only for the player’s goal, but also his defending.

“He was outstanding”

“I thought he was outstanding. A rock. He was up against quality strikers. He handled them and then to go on and get the winner capped off an all-round great performance” he told the Celtic Twitter account.

The goal is certainly the highlight of Jullien’s time at the club so far. Heading is one of his biggest attributes, and he will be hoping that his goal leads to more before the end of the season.

Of course, where the £7 million signing from Toulouse will be really be judged is on his defending. Jullien coped well with the challenge that Lazio posed him.

He has done well in his short time at Celtic so far. Obviously, there was going to be a bit of pressure on the player. The Hoops aren’t known for spending £7 million on a player.

But aside from a poor display against Livingston, Jullien has stood up to every challenge that he has faced in his time at the club.

That includes a solid display in the win over Rangers in September. It is plain from Lennon’s comments that he sees Jullien as one of the mainstays of the Celtic side going forward.

He has put his faith in the player, and for the most part Jullien has rewarded him. Now he has to keep up this level of form in the weeks and months ahead.
