Neil Lennon has provided an update on four of his stars ahead of next weekend’s Betfred Cup final against Rangers.
Odsonne Edouard, Boli Bolingoli, Mohamed Elyounoussi, and Jonny Hayes all missed today’s 4-1 success in Dingwall against Ross County.
In their place, the likes of Greg Taylor, Lewis Morgan, and Mikey Johnston have been given opportunities to thrive.
But Lennon provided an update on where all four players are currently at ahead of the cup final. Speaking after today’s win, the manager said:
“(Edouard) just day-by-day, we’ll see how he is tomorrow. He was out running today and I think he’s come through that okay. So it’s day-by-day.
“Moi should hopefully be training Wednesday/Thursday. He’s got a good chance of making it. Boli we’re not sure on yet. He might be a doubt.
“Jonny Hayes should be fine and we’re hoping Odsonne will be as well.”
Need as strong a squad as possible
Edouard’s previous performances against Rangers have been outstanding. He’s scored on multiple occasions at both Parkhead and Ibrox, but has yet to be unleashed against them at Hampden.
The immediate question is who could replace him if he indeed does miss out. Leigh Griffiths only came on for the closing stages of today’s win and clearly isn’t fully up to speed just yet.
Elyounoussi will also hopefully be available, but you have to question whether he should be in over the confident Mikey Johnston.
Jonny Hayes, meanwhile, would seem best placed to face Rangers at left-back for next week. With Boli a doubt and Greg Taylor still unproven on the big stage, Hayes would seem like the reliable option.
Hopefully, all four players are ready to feature in any case and leave Lennon with plenty of options for the final.
