Celtic boss Neil Lennon has revealed that he is pleased with the progress made by recent signing Hatem Abd Elhamed.
He has disclosed that all being well, the right-back/centre-back should be involved for the Hoops in the first league game of the season against St Johnstone on Saturday.
“Hopefully, if he stays injury-free, he will be in the squad for the opener” Lennon said, as reported by the Scottish Sun.
Lennon then outlined two attributes that the player has that have impressed him – his quickness, and his size. He was also impressed with the hunger shown by the player.
“Exactly what you want”

“Hatem is very quick, which is always a good asset to have in the team. He is technically good, a good size, and he looks a hungry type — which is exactly what you want” he concluded.
Judging the manager’s comments, he seems very impressed with Elhamed. It sounds like he could be featuring for the Hoops on a regular basis.
The team will hope that he is available for the St Johnstone clash. The Hoops go into the game in a bit of a defensive crisis.
Ideal match to make debut in

Both Christopher Jullien and Jozo Simunovic are suspended for the game. Therefore, it seems like the ideal match for Elhamed to make his debut.
Hopefully the player will get through the week’s training unscathed, and can make his debut in the league. If all goes well in that game, Elhamed could well start the Champions League qualifier the following midweek.
