Celtic boss Neil Lennon has made a decision involving team selection for the second leg against Nomme Kalju which is certainly brave.

He has confirmed that neither James Forrest nor Callum McGregor made the trip to Estonia.

“We’ve left McGregor and Forrest at home” Lennon said, as reported by the Evening Times.

“A little bit of respite”

“Those two have played a lot of football and it’s a good opportunity to give them a little bit of respite because the games are going to come thick and fast again” he concluded.

It is a brave move to leave out two of your best players for any fixture. However, the decision is a good one by the Hoops manager.

The duo played far too much football last season. This was true of McGregor in particular. It was recently revealed that he played more minutes of football than any other player last season.

That cannot be allowed to continue this season.

Therefore, with the Hoops 5-0 up from the first-leg, Neil Lennon has decided that the two players can do with the night off.

It is a decision that Hoops supporters will applaud. There is no need for the Hoops to take any risks in the tie. There are players in the squad who will look to replace the duo and stake a claim for first-team football.

McGregor and Forrest will also be fresh and raring to go for Saturday’s first league game of the season against St Johnstone.

This is a good decision by the Hoops boss, which will go down well with the club’s supporters.
