Arne Engels is poised to be Celtic’s marquee deadline day signing as they finally replace Matt O’Riley’s presence.
The Bhoys are set to bring the 20-year-old in on a landmark deal worth up to £11 million, shattering their existing record of an up-front fee paid for a player.
He is currently undergoing his medical at the club and has agreed personal terms on a four-year deal, with confirmation hopefully set to come later today.
Last term, the Belgian talent registered three goals and five assists in 33 appearances across all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit.
He now has the chance to experience Champions League football with Celtic against a range of European powerhouses, including Borussia Dortmund, Aston Villa and Atalanta.

Now, he has another cause for celebration on what is set to be a momentous day in his career.
Arne Engels handed senior Belgium call-up
Earlier today, Domenico Tedesco finalised his Belgium squad for their upcoming Nations League double-header against Israel and France. Engels joins up with the Red Devils despite being uncapped at senior level.
It should be noted that he was also selected for Belgium’s friendlies against Montenegro and Luxembourg in June.
The Dendermonde-born man made the bench for the first match but remained an unused substitute before not appearing in the matchday squad against the latter.
Nevertheless, there is real potential that he could earn his senior international debut if he can hit the ground running at Celtic. Engels has been capped nine times at Under-21 level, scoring twice.
Now, all that is left is for him to complete his move today, which is bound to provoke real excitement among the support.
