BT Sport presenter Matt Smith will be at Celtic Park on Saturday to present the club’s coverage of the match against Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.
Celtic announced the news today on the official club website.
Smith is a high-profile broadcaster, presenting English Premier League and European football on BT Sport. He has previously worked for ITV and the BBC, reporting from a number of major international tournaments.
The quality of Celtic’s Pass to Paradise service for season ticket holders has been hit or miss throughout the season.
Fans were left disappointed when Gerry McCulloch hosted a large proportion of matches with some of the same old Celtic pundits, after a promising start to the season’s coverage which included outside analysts such as Michael Stewart.
In recent months the club have brought in Connie McLaughlin to present matches, which has resulted in an improvement.
Smith will at least bring a bit of freshness to proceedings as Celtic look for the first derby victory of the season.
Although obviously broadcasting to Celtic supporters, the audience may appreciate a bit of impartiality and honesty from someone who isn’t associated with the club.

Some of the coverage from the club this term has been a bit too much like propaganda for some people’s tastes!
Hopefully it’s a good show and John Kennedy’s team also do the business on the park.
