Celtic B will compete in next season’s Lowland League after all.
Reports emerged last month that Celtic were set to withdraw the B team from Scotland’s regional fifth tier, but these were quickly curtailed by the media.
Sources then insisted that a decision was yet to be made on whether the young Hoops would be involved in the division’s plans to move to a new format.
But after Celtic Park hosted the league’s AGM on Monday, it has now been confirmed that the B team remains as usual.

“The League will henceforth be comprised of two Divisions – Lowland League East and Lowland League West.
“Cowdenbeath will be a member of the Lowland League East division which will have 16 clubs – 11 of them drawn from the 2025/26 Lowland League.
“The 5 new clubs which Cowdenbeath will face in 2026/27 are Dunipace, Lochee United, Musselburgh Athletic, near neighbours Hill of Beath Hawthorn, and old foes Brechin City.
“The Lowland League West Division will actually have 17 clubs in 2026/27 as Celtic B will continue as a Guest Club.
“5 other sides from last season’s Lowland League will be joined by 11 new members. Hearts B will not take part in the Lowland League next season.
“At the end of season 2026/27, the Champions of both Leagues will compete in a round robin contest along with the Highland League champions for the right to take on Club 42 from the SPFL in the play off final for an SPFL place.
“At the foot of each division, two clubs can be relegated at the end of the season.
“The Midland League and East of Scotland League champions, if suitably licensed, would be eligible to be promoted into the Lowland League East, whilst the West of Scotland League and South of Scotland League champions, if suitably licensed. would similarly step up into the Lowland League West.”
Celtic have bloated their squad with a high volume of ‘project’ signings over the last decade…
Celtic B continues to be questioned
Colby Donovan is the only former B team player to have any kind of meaningful involvement in the senior squad over the last five years.
The success of the recently-introduced club co-operation loan system has given the Hoops easier avenues to shipping out young players to clubs at SPFL level.
As of the end of the season, Celtic had six players on loan in the Scottish Championship: two at Partick Thistle and four at Ayr United.
Dara Jikiemi is the latest in a long line of players to have their heads turned away from professional contracts at Celtic in recent years.
