Celtic captain Callum McGregor coped admirably with a strange line of questioning from the media at today’s press conference.
The Hoops midfielder was sat in front of the country’s leading reporters ahead of Saturday’s derby against Rangers.
McGregor was in typically impressive form, giving good insight in his answers without offering any needless headlines.

Perhaps that is why the media chose to lead the press conference in a certain direction, with several questions aimed at stoking up the Celtic-Rangers rivalry.
McGregor was asked about his “spat” with Rangers full-back Borna Barisic at Ibrox, and if there was “something between” the pair going in to this fixture. (Celtic YouTube)
“No, no”, he said while laughing. “We’re just professionals trying to win.”
“But it’s very unlike you to get involved head to head?” came the follow-up question.
Later on, McGregor was asked if he felt he had ever got under the skin of a Rangers player, or went out with the intention of doing so.
“Not that I’m aware of”, said the bemused Hoops skipper.

McGregor was keen to play that element of the fixture down, maintaining that anything that happens out on the pitch is simply a result of players wanting the best for their teams.
The Scotland international will have given the media little to get their teeth in to, despite the probing.
McGregor and Celtic will do their talking on the pitch, as they always do.
