Celtic captain Callum McGregor has an insatiable appetite for football that has saw him clock up an astounding number of minutes over the last decade.

Since 2014, he has made 464 appearances at club level for the Bhoys, registering 64 goals and 77 assists in all competitions [Transfermarkt].

Factor 53 Scotland caps into the bargain, and it is clear to see that McGregor is a stalwart for club and country that never lets either down.

Now 30 years of age, the midfielder doesn’t look to be showing any sign of slowing down, which is a testament to his character and desire to keep building a lasting career legacy.

Looking ahead to EURO 2024 in Germany, McGregor has now laid out his intentions for another packed summer of action from his point of view.

Coming into the championships following his key role in Celtic’s Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup double, McGregor is now focused on delivering success on the international scene with Scotland.

He explained [STV News]: “It’s all set up now and obviously being in Germany as well it’s a brilliant football country. The stadiums and atmospheres will be amazing and I’m sure the Tartan Army will enjoy themselves as well.

“We go there full of confidence, we know we are a good team and if we go there and perform, anything can happen, so we have to go in full of confidence and full of belief and see where that takes us.”

McGregor hopes to be joined by Anthony Ralston, Greg Taylor, and James Forrest at the finals, with the cut to 26 players set to be announced before Friday’s deadline by Steve Clarke.

While club football takes a seat on the backburner, there is set to be plenty of intrigue over what Scotland could achieve in Germany, and Celtic have representation that could play a big part in turning their aspirations into reality.

Once the championships are over, McGregor will take some time to refresh before going on to lead from the front for his club in 2024/25.
