European football’s governing body say the Hoops have breached disciplinary rules and the matter will be dealt with at a hearing next Thursday.

It’s the second time the club have been cited for the offence. We were also charged by UEFA following the away qualifier against AIK and subsequently fined £11,000. (Scottish Sun)

Celtic will probably receive a paltry fine from UEFA

While the charge is clearly damaging to the club’s prestige, it shouldn’t really affect anything else. We’ll likely receive another nominal fine that the club will simply have to pay and get on with it.

The charge is likely to relate to the Muhammad Ali tifo that was organised by the Green Brigade and displayed prior to the game. The display generated widespread praise from the Celtic support and perhaps even further motivated the team ahead of the 2-0 win.

But despite its obvious charm, it is still against UEFA rules and they will come down on Celtic pretty firmly.
