Celtic coach can help Kristoffer Ajer get back to his best

It has been a bit concerning for Celtic fans to see Kristoffer Ajer struggle over the last month. Previous to that, he had been in excellent form for the Hoops.

However, in recent games he gave away a penalty against Rennes, scored an own goal against Hibs and was very poor in the recent 2-0 loss to Livingston.

That poor run of form will have to come to an end soon. If not, the likes of Nir Bitton and when he is fit Jozo Simunovic could take his place in the side.

Fortunately, Celtic are lucky to have a coach at the club who can help Ajer get through this spell of form. That coach is current Hoops assistant boss, John Kennedy.

Kennedy was an excellent centre-back with the Hoops, whose career was sadly curtailed due to injury. He knows how to play well at the back for Celtic.

Therefore, once Ajer returns from international duty, perhaps Kennedy can have a pep talk with the player about his performances.

Advice could get player back to his best

His advice could get Ajer back on form. When Ajer is on form, he is arguably the best centre-back at the club. He showed that last season, when he was the one constant pick at centre-back under Neil Lennon.

At the start of this season, it looked like he was set to form a formidable partnership with Christopher Jullien. However, his performances have been below the high standards he has set in his time with the club.

It could be a make or break time for Ajer after the international break. Should he return in good firm, he will keep his place in the team.

However, another bad performance could see him on the bench. That is where a discussion with Kennedy could help. His wisdom could help Ajer get back to his very best.
