Greg Wallace has reportedly been poached from Celtic by Brendan Rodgers’ Al-Qadsiah.

Wallace served as the club’s Head Analyst and First Team Coach last season, having been brought to Glasgow from Tottenham Hotspur as a video analyst four seasons ago.

Celtic won the league title in each of those four seasons, and Ange Postecoglou attempted to take Wallace back to Tottenham when he joined the North London club in 2023.

However, it now appears to be Rodgers who has succeeded in luring the 34-year-old, creating another vacancy to be solved in the club’s backroom staff.

According to Video Celts, Wallace is set to quit Celtic with immediate effect to join the Saudi Pro League side.

He will reunite with Rodgers, John Kennedy and Jack Lyons in the Middle East.

It comes after Celtic confirmed the arrival of Ross Grant from Hearts, an appointment widely seen as a replacement for Gavin Strachan.

Grant was essentially the set-piece coach as the Tynecastle club came within minutes of the league title last season, with Strachan playing this role during his time in Glasgow.

Martin O’Neill’s two main assistants have also been in the headlines, with the club taking several weeks to secure the futures of Shaun Maloney and Mark Fotheringham.

Rodgers was unveiled by Al-Qadsiah in December, being quizzed on his infamous ‘Honda Civic’ Celtic comments at his unveiling.

However, he took the club by storm, defeating Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr on an extraordinary unbeaten run which saw them emerge as unlikely title contenders.

The run lasted 17 games before eventually being put to an end by Moussa Dembele and Jack Hendry’s Al-Ettifaq.

They eventually secured AFC Champions League football with a fourth-place finish, just nine points off the top.

Never in doubt… 😅 How relieved are we!?

Martin O’Neill: ‘Important’ to secure backroom staff

Speaking to Celtic TV, O’Neill said on the backroom staff: O’Neill said: “I thought it was very important, because we gelled together, as much as anything else.

“I suppose, because the end result was that we won, then you start to feel, ‘Oh, it was half decent’…

“It’s nice to have the staff back. You just mentioned Gavin, who is a very important cog in all proceedings.

“I’m disappointed that he’s leaving, but I can understand why. I know he gets closer to home as well, and he’s working at a very, very good football club. So we do wish him well.”
