Celtic confirm Lennoxtown-based players returned negative tests today
Celtic have released a statement confirming that all of their Lennoxtown-based players reported negative tests today.
A massive panic appears to have set in over what’s been a hectic 24 hours for the club after Odsonne Edouard tested positive for Covid-19. Fellow first-team star Ryan Christie was then ordered to self-isolate after being identified as a close contact of Stuart Armstrong’s, who also tested positive today (SFA).
The Hoops have now reacted to Christie’s self-isolation notice expressing their disappointment that this has occurred on international duty, whilst also expressing that their over-riding concern is for the player’s health.
However, on a more promising note, Celtic have confirmed that a fresh batch of tests were carried out at Lennoxtown today. The club has stated that all tests have come back negative, and that other players on international duty have come back negative too.
The Celtic squad based at Lennoxtown have all again returned negative test results today. In addition all other players currently on international duty, outwith Odsonne as reported yesterday, have reported negative tests.

Some relief for Celtic fans after a manic 24 hours.
This, at the very least, provides the support with some promising news from Lennoxtown. Goodness knows the panic that would’ve occurred had we found even more positive tests within the camp.
The likes of Albian Ajeti, Christopher Jullien, Diego Laxalt, and Jeremie Frimpong will all still be at Celtic’s training base ahead of next Saturday’s Glasgow derby.
It’s extremely frustrating that the two incidents involving Celtic players has happened whilst both men were on international duty. Something doesn’t sit right with many of the Celtic fans about that, and it’s clearly irked the club too.
It makes you question why international football is still rumbling on. At a time when countries are doing their best to advise against foreign travel, having teams around Europe jaunt all over the continent is a disaster waiting to happen.
Hopefully, both Odsonne and Ryan are safe and can get back to Lennoxtown without any concerns after their isolation periods. But at least there are no further casualties around the squad at the moment.
