Celtic have confirmed that the postponed fixture against Hearts will now take place on Wednesday, March 8th, at Celtic Park.

The Bhoys were initially due to face Robbie Neilson’s side in the East End of Glasgow on the 25th of February.

However, Ange Postecoglou and his team reached the Viaplay Cup final and will now take on Rangers at Hampden Park that same weekend.

So this caused the initial clash between the two sides to be postponed, and supporters were awaiting an update on the new-look fixture schedule.

Thankfully, after an extremely busy start to the season, the Hoops now have plenty of space in the calendar for the postponed Hearts fixture.

However, I am sure both Postecoglou and Neilson alike would have been keen to get this match in the schedule as soon as possible.

This afternoon, Celtic confirmed the date for the rescheduled fixture against the Edinburgh side, and it will now take place on Wednesday 8th of March, kicking off at 19:45 PM.

So the fixture will be squeezed between a trip to St Mirren on the 4th of March and a potential Scottish Cup quarter-final the following weekend if the Hoops advance past the Buddies in February.

In recent years, fixtures between Celtic and Hearts have been entertaining affairs, with the last match-up between the teams ending in a dramatic 4-3 victory to the Bhoys.

So it is bound to be an exciting evening under the lights at Celtic Park in March.

Unfortunately for supporters that would be hoping to tune into the game on Sky Sports, UEFA rules may make that unlikely, with UEFA Champions League fixtures taking place that same night.

There is still plenty of time between now and the Hearts fixture, with Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and Viaplay Cup action to focus on for Ange Postecoglou and his players.

But, as mentioned, I am sure the Celtic manager will be happy to have this game settled in his team’s schedule, as he aims to lead the club to more trophy success in 2023.

In other news, Understudy role could be the ideal next step for Celtic debutant Bosun Lawal.
