Celtic have confirmed that the club will embark on a nine game schedule of matches throughout December, ahead of the mid-season winter break.

Eight had previously been arranged, but a rescheduling of a Hearts clash due to participation in the Scottish League Cup semi-final means they are added to the winter gauntlet for Neil Lennon’s men.

The match against Craig Levein’s team at Tynecastle takes place on Wednesday December 18th, slotting in between matches against Aberdeen and Hibs.

Fixtures against Ross County, Hamilton, St Johnstone, Cluj, St Mirren and Rangers will also occur, from the 1st of the month to the 29th.

However, the match against St Johnstone could be re-arranged for later in the season if we reach the Scottish League Cup final.

While exciting, it’s a brutal run of games and could be one that defines our season.

A trophy could be potentially on the line, along with European progress. Then there’s the small matter of a massive derby against Steven Gerrard’s team.

Fan reaction

The match in Dingwall has stuck out for some fans as particularly poor scheduling, with the match kicking off at 12pm on a Sunday, severely limiting options for travel to the ground and ensuring it’ll be a very early start for many.

With cold weather and Christmas spending to consider, it’ll be a gruelling month for supporters as well as the team.
