Celtic have continued to build Champions League excitement, releasing footage from a classic encounter against Manchester United.

The Hoops are preparing to embark upon the world’s most prestigious club tournament for the first time since 2017.

Ange Postecoglou’s side earned automatic entry into the competition after lifting the Scottish Premiership title during the 56-year-olds first campaign in charge.

With just a matter of weeks, until the European competition gets underway, supporters are buzzing to see the Bhoys take on some of the best clubs in the world.

Anticipation continues to build ahead of next week’s draw, with the final places in the Champions League group stage still to be decided.

Celtic have added to the excitement of the Hoops return to the top stage of European Football, releasing footage from a classic encounter in 2006.

Leading up to the 2022/23 group stage draw, the club has announced a new series of articles/videos being placed on the Celtic website of famous nights under the lights at Paradise.

The first of which being the Hoops’ memorable 1-0 win over Manchester United on November 21st 2006 [Celtic FC].

Shunsuke Nakamura was one of the Bhoys’ heroes that night, producing a wonder strike into the top left-hand corner, giving Edwin Van der Sar no chance of reaching his unstoppable free-kick.

Former Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc also produced a legendary Parkhead moment, saving Louis Saha’s late penalty to deny the English Premier League giants a draw and sending Paradise into bedlum.

For those wanting to relive those special moments, footage can be found here on the Celtic FC website.

Watching back old famous memories of those Champions League nights at Celtic Park has certainly got me even more buzzing for the Bhoys’ return to the top table of European Football at the start of next month.

Celtic will continue to release more footage of those incredible UCL nights across the next seven days as we prepare to find out who are opponents are in this season’s competition.

It is an exciting time to be a Celtic supporter, with Ange Postecoglou and his squad facing some of the best football clubs in the world whilst playing at the top of their game and full of confidence.

Here’s hoping they can create more special memories, just like Nakamura’s incredible strike against Manchester United 16 years ago!
