Celtic could still move for Romain Perraud this summer
Celtic could still make their move for Romain Perraud this summer, according to a report. The Nice left-back was said to be interesting the Hoops earlier on this summer as a potential replacement for Kieran Tierney.
Earlier this week Neil Lennon’s side secured the signing of Rapid Vienna’s Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo on a four-year deal. It was widely thought that the Belgian’s move would end all hope of Perraud coming to Glasgow this summer.
However, it has now emerged that Celtic could still turn to the Frenchman if Tierney moves on.
The Daily Mail, a trusted source for Celtic news, say that the Nice man is still a contender to move to the club “if and when” Tierney goes.
The article was written by the Scottish Daily Mail’s chief football writer Stephen McGowan. He is well known to have good contacts in and around the club so it is always interesting to hear what he has to say.
Celtic having Perraud as back-up option is good
It’s good to see that the club have a plan in mind if Tierney does move on. Of course nobody wants to see the Scotland international go but there has to be an understanding that it will happen sooner rather than later.
The fact the club have already signed a notable left-back in Bolingoli-Mbombo and still have designs on another, is promising. Celtic clearly aren’t going to do things the cheap way this summer and that will please fans.
If Tierney goes it will be a tough blow, but it looks like we’ll invest in a replacement. That’s about all you can ask the club to do.
