The Football for Good fund, set up by Celtic FC Foundation, has risen to almost £300,000, the official club website declared this weekend.
An initial £175,000 had been made available to help efforts that support vulnerable children, families and the homeless during the ongoing public health crisis.
However, this latest update divulges that the fund has been increased by another £125,000, with the Foundation aiding around 35 different organisations.
Far from the efforts just being localised to Glasgow, people are now being helped in the rest of Scotland, England and Ireland, including Greenock, Oban, Edinburgh, London, Newcastle, Dublin and Belfast.
NHS frontline staff are also being supported in the Greater Glasgow area on a daily basis.
Celtic Chief Executive, Peter Lawwell, told the official website: “Everyone at Celtic Football Club and Celtic FC Foundation is aware of how the COVID-19 crisis is impacting on our communities. Therefore, it is vital that we continue to support the most vulnerable in our society during this period.
“The Football for Good Fund will provide a lifeline for so many, at an extremely difficult time, once again honouring the great charitable ambitions of the club’s founders.”

With drama in Scottish football rumbling on and on, it’s important to remember that Celtic are one of the clubs leading the way in efforts to help its community get through this global problem.
Celtic mobilised its charity foundation early and no doubt is greatly impacting lives around the country.
Right now, this is the most crucial thing, beyond what might happen on the pitch.
