Celtic defender Christopher Jullien has been reflecting on the club’s Scottish League Cup final win over Rangers in December, posting a BT Sport interview to his Twitter account.
The French defender scored the winning goal in that encounter, converting from a free-kick in the second half despite the team performance being poor overall.
It’s one of a number of important goals he’s netted this season with a sensational winner against Lazio standing out at the top of the tree.
He’s been quite the threat in the opposition box.
Interviewer Emma Dodds questioned him about achieving one of his stated Celtic ambitions already, winning a trophy.
The defender gave an honest answer about Celtic’s display at Hampden, but asserted that his team simply wanted it more than Rangers on the day.
As posted by the defender on social media, he replied: “That game was unbelievable. It showed the strength that we had.
“It was not easy to play against this team because I think that day they were better than us, simply on the field, but we just want it more.”
Jullien is already a Celtic leader
The way that Jullien conducts himself on and off the pitch is exceptional. He really seems to have embraced what it means to play for a massive club like Celtic.
You’d think he’d been here for years considering the way he’s become integral to our starting eleven.
He’s a notable and vocal leader in every match and as mentioned pops up with massive moments of quality that so far has helped define our season.
His mentality also appears to be exactly what we need to succeed in multiple competitions. His comment about wanting it more is accurate.
There’s just no stopping this Celtic team and the Frenchman has fit into that culture perfectly.
As we head towards an exciting end to the Scottish Premiership season, he’ll be key.
