At times, Celtic haven’t held back when it comes to making statements this season. Now they have let rip, after Jon Flanagan won his appeal against a two-match ban for an elbow on Scott Brown in the recent Glasgow derby.
It looked like a relatively straightforward decision. But it seems that it was not the case as Flanagan won’t receive any ban.
“Huge embarrassment”

The Hoops released a scathing statement to the Scottish Sun, declaring that ‘the whole matter is a huge embarrassment for Scottish football’.
It has been a controversial year when it comes to discipline and Scottish football. You can’t really blame Celtic for being upset with the decision, as it looked like an obvious two-match ban.

Celtic board could lobby for change
It will be interesting to see if Peter Lawwell and the powers that be at the club lobby to get the appeal process changed for next season.

Neil Lennon could well have something to say about the verdict as well. However, he might not comment for a while. It could take away from Celtic’s upcoming title party against Hearts on Sunday.
The words used in the statement are the most important thing. Celtic haven’t held back on this occasion.
The Hoops support will be delighted that the club have been quick to condemn what looks to be a poor decision. Now we wait and see what the next step will be.
